“Mr. Boyajian, what should people keep in mind when thinking about Global Bakeries?” Albert Boyajian responds to the anonymous journalist, “Integrity. A person either has integrity or not; if you don’t have integrity, no amount of money can buy it; if you do have it, nobody can take it away. Over the years, our customers can attest to the integrity found within Global Bakeries – that is why our customers from thirty years ago are still our customers. My word is my contract . . . integrity.”

Global Bakeries, Inc., a family-owned and operated corporation, was the first company to introduce pita bread to Southern California in the late 1960’s. Its original partners mastered pita bread production from their home countries of Syria and Lebanon and overwhelmed Southern California with the extraordinary quality of their pita bread, as well as with their unmatched customer service. In the late 1970’s only Albert Boyajian remained from the original partners, at which point the company globalized its product line - bagels, bread rolls, bread sticks, croissants, flat breads (“lavash”) and pita chips were added to the company’s product line. Albert’s ten years of experience in Paris, France, where he furthered his Old-World baking knowledge, combined with the move of the bread factory from Vernon, CA to a custom-built factory in Pacoima, CA facilitated the expansion of the product line.

Global Bakeries, Inc. has been producing for famous, nation-wide wholesalers and distributors since the late 1970’s. Its market reaches from the Midwest of the United States to the Asian continent. Global Bakeries, Inc. provides direct store delivery to over 200 independent stores and restaurants throughout the San Fernando Valley, Glendale, Pasadena, and Hollywood. Beyond those areas, independent distributors distribute its products.

In July 2007, Global Bakeries, Inc. turned a new corner when Albert Boyajian’s son, Eric Boyajian, joined the management. As an adolescent, Eric spent much time working on the line along side the other employees, doing various jobs such as packing bread, mixing dough, etc. Over the years, he worked in various other aspects of the business, such as accounting, payroll, sales, and customer relations. After graduating from the University of Southern California, he received a Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine Law School and practiced Labor & Employment Law at Los Angeles’s second largest firm, where he defended and trained employers.

Global Bakeries, Inc. operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Bread is made-to-order, so it is fresh for the morning pick-up and delivery. Global Bakeries, Inc. implements high quality control standards throughout every department. Daily inspections ensure the cleanliness of all process production equipment. Global Bakeries, Inc.’s primary focus is to satisfy its customer’s needs by providing high quality products and outstanding customer service.

The pita line operates during the graveyard shift to ensure the freshest possible product is available to the consumer in the mornings, akin to the Old-World neighborhood bakery mentality. The croissants undergo a three day process . . . authentic Parisian style. The bagels are prepared over a 12-hour period, including boiling them the old-fashioned way prior to baking.

Per hour, Global Bakeries, Inc. can produce 30,000 bagels, 8,000 large croissants, and 30,000 loaves of pita bread. Additionally, Global Bakeries, Inc. is willing to venture into joint marketing, advertising, and promotional campaigns with its customers, as well as customize its products to cater to the customers’ unique needs – after all, the customers’ success translates into Global Bakeries, Inc.’s success as well.
